My task was to create a collage based on my journey during my time at Panmure Bridge School. This was just a brief showcase of what I have been doing and my role at this school.

I found this activity interesting because I can showcase myself by using different images to my global audience.

I am currently working on my Respect Badge. These badges that we recieve represents our school and what we do. It stands for C.A.R.E (Confidence, Attitude, Respect, Excellence). Belongings Contract

LI: Students will learn how to look after equipment and property

During this activity, we discussed as a group on why should we look after equipment and how should we look after equipment. We looked at the different causes and effect to when we damaged property or lent something to someone and they broke it. How would something you gave to a friend and they broke it? Do you think they will pay for it? We also discussed on the special objects we lost that meant to us but not to others as they could sell it and think it’s just a wedding ring, or a necklace. We then created a fake contract that will allow us to take upon our ability to take care of our belongings.

Parc Des Princes

LI: To keep our learning going by participating in the Spring Learning Journey

During these school holidays, there is a Spring Learning Journey for pupils to keep their education going. There are a total of 20 activites and for this activit, I was to find a landmark in France and to explain why I would want to go there.

I chose the landmark, Parc Des Princes, which is a football stadium for a team called Paris Saint German. This football club is known to be the most oldest club in all of France and they have won the most champions within their leauge. I also chose this landmark because of a famous player named Kylian Mbappe Lottin, who is Paris Saint German’s star player. He is a well known striker and led a phenomous performance in 2018 world cup by winning for France.

Spoil Your Parents!

LI: To keep our learning going by participating in the Spring Learning Journey

During these school holidays, there is a Spring Learning Journey for pupils to keep their education going. There are a total of 20 activites and for this activity, I was to spoil my parents with a breakfast in bed. I used these following ingredients down below to create this wonderful masterpiece.

  • 1 egg
  • Flour
  • Baking Powder
  • Sugar
  • Milk
  • Chocolate chips
  • Strawberries
  • Maple Syrup
  • Nutella

To create this, I used my prior knowledge from food tech to create a delicious breakfast. Whilst making these pancakes, I made a few mistakes in the kitchen such as over heated stove as a result it led to burnt pancakes.

I found this activity interesting because I used my imagination and my prior knowledge to make breakfast for my whanau.

Current Events | International

LI: To identify author’s purpose

This weeks current events challenge was to find different kinds of articles by using Kiwikidz news, NZ Herald, Radio NZ, Kea Kids News within different International Landmarks. We had to choose 5 words that authors use to write their articles and match them with articles from NZ.

We created google my maps to record the different articles we have found. One of the articles we matched with the authors reasons was Timeliness. Timeliness is the current news or events that is occuring right now. The article I chose was Musk gets rid of Twitter name and logo from Kiwi Kids News. This article was about Elon Musk and Linda Yaccarino planning to reveal a news logo for Twitter with a ‘X’ in the background replacing.

I found this activity interesting because I found different articles around the world and use the titles to see what kind of article they chose before publishing their piece.

Multiplying Fractions

LI: how to multiply fractions

This term, our focus in maths is fractions. Fractions is a whole number divided into equal pieces. Our maths group created a DLO showcasing how to multiply fractions. We wrote down the strategy and our understanding on the process of multiplying fractions. When we multiply fractions, we always must remember to multiply both the numerator and the denominator.

Steps: First, if we are multiplying a fraction of a whole number we need to make sure that we add the 1 as the denominator because it does not change it’s value. Next, you multiply the numerator and the denominator. 5 x 5 = 25, 7 x 1 = 7. This gives us a fraction of 25/7. It is now an improper fraction, so we have to make it into a mixed number. So we have to think how many 7s can we pull out of 25. The answer is 3 and we have 4 left remaining. So we have 3 4/7.

Understanding Fractions

LI: To find a fraction of a whole number

For maths this term we are learning about fractions and in this DLO we are showing our understanding and the strategies we used to find the fraction of a whole number. We used our prior knowledge of multiplication and division to find the answers to the equations.

I found this activty interesting because I learnt how to use my mutliplication and division prior knowledge to figure ou how to find a fraction of a whole number.

Current Events

LI: To identify author’s purpose

This weeks current events challenge was to find different kinds of articles by using Kiwikidz news, NZ Herald, Radio NZ, Kea Kids News. We had to choose 5 words that authors use to write their articles and match them with articles from NZ.

We created google my maps to record the different articles we have found. One of the articles we matched with the authors reasons was Timeliness. Timeliness is the current news or events that is occuring right now. The article I chose was ‘Fifa Women’s World Cup 2023: Spain into final after beating Sweden at Eden Park’ from NZ Herald. This article was about the remarkable display Spain peformed in Eden Park against Sweeden in the FWWC (Fifa Women’s World Cup).

I found this activity interesting because I found out what authors use to write an article to hook or convince their audience to read what they have written.

Something Happened Here?

LI: To learn about New Zealand history.

For this assignment we were given a task to explain what happened at our place we landed in. Using a website called somethinghappenedhere.co.nz. Our word we chose was empire. Empire means a very large group of people or a monarch led by one important person. We were given 6 tasks to do. Our tasks was to introduce who Jack Lovelock is, who was Adolf Hitler at the time, and what happened at the 1936 Olympics.

Jack Lovelock was a New Zealand Track athlete who competed in the 1936 Berlin summer Olympics. He won NZ 1 gold medal and received an Oak sapling from the Nazi. The oak sapling can be viewed in Timaru High School.

In 1936, the Olympics were held in Berlin Germany by Adolf Hitler. During the Olympics Jesse Owens who represented the USA, won four gold medals and shocked Hitler. When Owens won his first gold medal in the 100m track, Hitler refused to shake hands with the African/American because he was a negro. Hitlers words were spreaded all across the Berlin Newspaper Headlines. This made Hitler reveal who he truly was and there were a balance of hatred and worship towards him.

I found this activity interesting because we learnt about what happened at this place we chose and found different facts about each person.
